Here is a recap of the key takeaways that resonated with me, along with special mentions of the fantastic companies that presented during the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devoteam.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Image-e1722331540381.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28041\" style=\"width:751px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-skills-for-the-future\">Skills for the future<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" id=\"h-t-shaped-skills\" style=\"color:#f8485e\"><strong>T-shaped skills <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Takeda, a global pharmaceutical company, reminded me of the power of having both deep expertise and broad knowledge. It&#8217;s like being a specialist who can also collaborate across different fields \u2013 a valuable combo in today&#8217;s fast-changing world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" id=\"h-closing-the-skills-gap\" style=\"color:#f8485e\"><strong>Closing the skills gap<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LinkedIn&#8217;s prediction of a major skills gap in the next five years made it clear that continuous learning is non-negotiable. Also, the fact that most people are interested in using AI at work shows how important it is to keep up with tech trends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devoteam.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Image-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28043\" style=\"width:754px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" id=\"h-skills-based-hiring\" style=\"color:#f8485e\"><strong>Skills-based hiring<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shift towards hiring based on skills, not just experience, is great news for women in tech. It opens doors for talented individuals with diverse backgrounds and non-traditional career paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-career-growth-and-well-being\">Career growth and well-being<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" id=\"h-dare-to-innovate\" style=\"color:#f8485e\"><strong>Dare to innovate<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ASML, a leading provider of advanced technology systems, encouraged us to be brave and try new things, even if it means stepping outside our comfort zone. It&#8217;s okay not to feel 100% ready for a new opportunity \u2013 learning on the job is part of the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" id=\"h-self-care-matters\" style=\"color:#f8485e\"><strong>Self-care matters<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ASML also reminded us that work-life balance isn&#8217;t a luxury, it&#8217;s a necessity. Setting boundaries, finding supportive people, and taking time for activities we enjoy are crucial for long-term success and happiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" id=\"h-women-supporting-women\" style=\"color:#f8485e\"><strong>Women supporting women<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mambu, a cloud banking platform provider, highlighted the importance of empowering women in tech and being an ally to underrepresented groups. Seeking out female role models and being specific when asking for mentorship can make a real difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-ai-revolution\">The AI revolution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" id=\"h-ai-s-impact\" style=\"color:#f8485e\"><strong>AI&#8217;s impact<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a global management consulting firm, showed us how AI, especially generative AI, is changing the game. It can boost productivity and creativity, but it also raises concerns about misinformation. Finding the right balance between human and AI contributions is key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s crucial to prioritize secure communication channels, especially when discussing sensitive information. This reinforces the idea that AI should be seen as a tool to enhance our skills, not a replacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Building a supportive culture<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" id=\"h-sisterhood-at-work\" style=\"color:#f8485e\"><strong>Sisterhood at work<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Decathlon, a major sporting goods retailer, emphasised the power of building a supportive community among women in the workplace. It&#8217;s about fostering a sense of belonging and mutual empowerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" id=\"h-success-through-collaboration\" style=\"color:#f8485e\"><strong>Success through collaboration<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Decathlon also reminded us that success often means helping others shine. It&#8217;s a refreshing perspective in a world that often glorifies individual achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final thoughts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The European Women in Technology conference left me feeling energised and optimistic about the future. The key takeaways I&#8217;ve shared are just a glimpse of the valuable insights and connections that were made. As a woman in tech, I highly recommend attending next year&#8217;s event.
