About the customer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ryobi-G was founded in 2000. Over the decades they have become one of the leading geotechnical solutions providers in Singapore, quickly cementing a strong international presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ryobi-G with its 530+ employees provides a comprehensive range of geotechnical and surveying services to clients, ranging from soil investigation and geophysical survey to geotechnical engineering and 3D geospatial data collection via laser scanning. We work closely with clients in delivering exceptional and personalised service by understanding their unique requirements, identifying solutions and executing their projects in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ryobi-G were initially running their operations on in-house servers, as they wanted to build their own robust data centers and relied heavily on the model to scale up their services, support more users and store data. But the challenge they faced with the in-house server was that it required capital investment for people, hardware and infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organisation decided to explore a cloud-based platform in terms of computing, delivery of software and applications. Along with this very important decision, the company was also looking for a safe and secure storage space, where data and applications could be easily accessed and the operational costs kept to a minimum. One of the main reasons for migration was to reduce the manpower instead of accessing via physical servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Goal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ryobi-G wanted to move their existing software architecture onto the Cloud according to best practices in security, availability, and scalability. To find a partner to support them beyond the transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Solution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ryobi-G wanted to migrate their servers to a cloud-based platform with the right partner and the right cloud provider. Devoteam G Cloud being a premier partner of Google Cloud, focuses on the customer needs with a highly capable team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company decided to migrate to Google Cloud through Devoteam G Cloud as they could deliver the best cloud security advisory and results. The management chose Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to migrate their servers to the cloud as it not only benefited in terms of resilience, automation, flexibility and scalability but also on running costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ryobi-G adopted Google Compute Engine to offer a scalable compute capacity in the cloud and Google Persistent Disk for persistent block-level storage. In order to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web Google Cloud Storage was used. Virtual Private Network was used for networking and delivering content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The component used to monitor all the GCP cloud resources was Google Cloud Operations, an Integrated monitoring, logging, and trace managed services for applications and systems running on Google Cloud and Security Command Center has been used for threat detection service that continuously monitors for malicious activities and unauthorised behaviour to protect Google accounts and workloads. This is supported and monitored under the watchful eye of Devoteam G Cloud Centre of Excellence in Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Methodology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Devoteam G Cloud uses Google Cloud Migrate to Virtual Machines to complete all VM migration activities. It is also recommended to migrate to Cloud SQL for improved security and stability. To understand all these possible alternatives, Devoteam G Clouds Cloud Architect\u2019s consulted with Ryobi-G’s own engineering team to design the architectural design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Result<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ryobi-G feels that migration to the cloud has been well-suited as it helped them reduce their capital expenses. Through cloud computing, there is less infrastructure to be maintained and the cost associated with the day to day maintenance has been significantly lowered. Ryobi-G has made sure that the engineering department operates more effectively in a cloud computing environment as there were no infrastructure concerns, software upgrades and day-to-day issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the benefits were possible through Devoteam G Cloud who has been in every step of their journey to the Google Cloud, allowing the company to adapt to their needs and goals without a large investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
