Some have difficulty seeing the obvious opportunities AI can provide. The major ERP vendors also see that customers need help getting started and therefore try to inspire by providing examples and partially building ready-made solutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-small-font-size\" id=\"h-let-s-look-at-some-of-the-examples-of-solutions-for-ai-in-erp\">Let&#8217;s look at some of the examples of solutions for AI in ERP:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP<\/strong> has built-in AI that predicts cash flow, suggests project participants for tasks, generates project plans and alerts about risks in the supply chain \u2013 all through intelligent assistants. For inspiration, Oracle has collected a number of examples of the use of AI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oracle.com\/artificial-intelligence\/solutions\/#all\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SAP<\/strong> has developed \u201cJoule\u201d, an AI-based copilot that helps users automate tasks, interpret numbers and gain insights in real time. This will also be connected to <a href=\"https:\/\/devoteam.info\/lu\/expert-view\/microsoft-365-copilot-adoption-challenges\/\">Microsoft\u2019s Copilo<\/a>t for further efficiency and value. SAP has collected a number of examples and inspiration for customers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sap.com\/products\/artificial-intelligence\/ai-assistant.html\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Microsoft Dynamics 365<\/strong> combines AI from Azure and Copilot with ERP functionality \u2013 e.g. intelligent purchasing support, sales forecasts and document analysis. Microsoft has also seen the need to inspire the use of the solutions through examples and customer stories. See more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/dynamics-365\/solutions\/erp\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Infor<\/strong> has worked well with AI and is trying to show how different sectors\/industries and micro-verticals can utilise their AI functionality. An example is for fashion with AI-assisted product development (variant suggestions, data enrichment of product cards), price and campaign optimsation, deviation detection in production\/supplier data and recommended actions. They also have industry-specific solutions for, for example, the power industry, where they deliver smart forecasting and simulation for plant activities, route planning, deviation detection on components and lines that can automatically trigger purchase and work orders, etc. See more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifs.com\/ai\/industrial-ai\">here<\/a>: <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the examples show &#8211; AI can already today enhance ERP functions across finance, purchasing, HR and project management, etc. But only if the systems facilitate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-size-of-the-supplier-determines-approach\">Size of the Supplier Determines Approach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The largest ERP players \u2013 SAP, Oracle, Microsoft \u2013 develop their own AI solutions and incorporate them directly into their products. They often own the entire technology stack and have their own language models, data centers and AI teams. But even though they develop their own solutions, they are also open and can use third-party solutions as part of the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The smaller and medium-sized ERP suppliers, which are often strong in niches and industries, rarely have the resources to build their own AI engines. For these players, it is crucial that the solutions are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Composable, so that external services such as <a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/gpt-4\/\">OpenAI GPT-4<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/devoteam.info\/expert-view\/gemini-for-google-workspace-ai-for-everyone\/\">Google Gemini<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/devoteam.info\/lu\/expert-view\/microsoft-365-copilot-adoption-challenges\/\">Microsoft Copilot<\/a> can be connected<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accessible via modern APIs and data access, so that AI can work with the company&#8217;s real process and business data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A recent analysis from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/top-10-ai-enabled-erp-vendors-watch-2025-eric-kimberling-mq7tc\/\">Third Stage Consulting<\/a> ranks SAP, Microsoft, Oracle and Workday among the leading AI players in the ERP market \u2013 and points out that smaller vendors will have to rely on open architectures and integrations to keep up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So \u2013 if you don\u2019t choose a solution from one of the big ones that has its own AI built in (which there may be many reasons not to), you need to choose one of the smaller ones carefully \u2013 they need to have a smart and flexible platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-get-started-but-do-it-right\">Get Started \u2013 But Do It Right<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I mentioned in the beginning of the article, many feel pressure to get started with AI. Therefore, AI should be seen as an improvement practice, not a stunt. It can help you take action where you currently struggle with fragmented processes, long lead times, or poor data quality.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But to do that, you need an architecture that allows for it: Composable ERP provides just that flexibility \u2013 to connect AI where it adds value, pull data across, and make improvements piecemeal and pragmatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The path to AI success doesn&#8217;t start with a complex AI project.
