Today, they are already reshaping the new work model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scroll down LinkedIn, any professional blog, or website, and you\u2019ll find dozens of stories of leaders stepping into this new era, learning how to ride the wave of rapid transformation without losing sight of what matters most: empowering their people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And nowhere is this tension more visible and promising than in the world of the People Function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These questions took center stage at a recent <strong>Digital Transformation Leadership event<\/strong> (hosted by Devoteam and ServiceNow in Vienna and Zurich).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Is the future of HR a choice between people and technology?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How can technology better support people in HR?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How can AI enhance, not replace, the human side of HR?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In reflecting on our conversations, I would like to share real and honest perspectives from HR Transformation leaders who are already exploring AI&#8217;s potential, testing new tools, rethinking old ways of working, and imagining how People Function can operate in smarter, more human ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/devoteam.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/zurich-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-684533\" style=\"width:800px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/devoteam.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/zurich-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/devoteam.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/zurich-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/devoteam.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/zurich-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/devoteam.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/zurich-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/devoteam.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/zurich.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-hr-leaders-are-most-excited-about\">What HR Leaders Are Most Excited About<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI is making HR feel more human, not less.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cIt\u2019s not just about making things faster or easier, it\u2019s about creating space for more meaningful conversations, deeper connections, and better experiences&#8230;<\/em> <em>AI gives us the tools to be more present, more responsive, and more human in the way we lead and care for our teams,\u201d says William Nuckley, VP of Employee Experience &amp; Digital Transformation, Borealis Group<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HR leaders are excited about <strong>using AI to remove friction from the employee experience<\/strong> and give HR teams more time to focus on what matters: people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cIt\u2019s helping HR shift from reactive to proactive, especially in areas like workforce planning, learning, and leadership support, and finally freeing up time to focus on real value creation,\u201d <\/em>Antonio Calco\u2019 Labruzzo, Senior HR Executive (CHRO) and non-Executive Board Member in Pharma \/ Lifescience and FMCG, shared his thoughts with me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Talent space is one of the most promising yet complex areas for AI. <strong>Intelligent matching<\/strong> unlocks new potential in recruiting, workforce planning, personalised learning, and succession planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>&#8230;We are becoming more in tune with employees. With the potential of Hyper-personalised experiences, as an employee or even before as an applicant, and hyper-automation of admin tasks, HR finally can focus on what humans do best: Build trust, understand and develop culture, build strategie<\/em>s,\u201d adds Brian Foster, Global HRIS Manager, Digital Transformation, MSC Cruises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ai-in-hr-responsible-adoption\">AI in HR: Responsible Adoption<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With great power comes\u2026 well, a new mindset. Generative AI tools don\u2019t just change workflows; they change expectations. And with that, HR teams must proceed carefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Agentic AI quietly stole the spotlight as we began to grasp generative AI\u2019s impact. The lines between automation, assistance, and autonomy started to blur. Suddenly, we weren\u2019t just dealing with tools that generate content; we were facing <strong>systems that act, decide, and even plan<\/strong>. While the buzz grew louder, many of us were still trying to understand what makes agentic AI different. What can these agents do, and how much should we empower them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The short answer is <strong>only as much as you let them<\/strong>. I like this metaphor I recently came across: Think of Digital agents as sous-chefs. They can prep, chop, and stir the pot, but you\u2019re still the head chef calling the shots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">William Nuckley states:<em> \u201cOne challenge is that AI will change how we think and work; it\u2019s not just a new tool, it\u2019s a new mindset. But that\u2019s also where the magic happens,\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HR leaders are focused on implementing ethical, transparent, and inclusive AI. It&#8217;s not (only) a technological shift, but a huge enabler of a culture shift too.<\/em>\u201d- Brian Foster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Empathy, emotional intelligence, and real-world experience<\/strong> are the things machines can\u2019t replicate. They connect people, shape culture, and turn insights into impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThe future is still unfolding, but our role will be to keep building and improving the tools that make work better for people while freeing up time to partner more closely with the business, using data and insights to shape the skills and culture we need to grow and deliver on our purpose.\u201d <\/em>And I fully agree with William Nuckley on that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s not just a vision; it\u2019s a roadmap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GenAI leads the transformation, but the human element ensures meaningful impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-human-heart-of-digital-hr\">The Human Heart of Digital HR<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I firmly believe that the rise of AI is not a threat to the profession; <strong>it\u2019s a call to elevate it<\/strong>.
