Plusvital has been a leader in equine nutrition since its formation in 1975, growing out of Ireland’s world-famous racing and sport horse tradition.

Plusvital now exports to over 30 countries and continues to focus on innovative nutraceuticals to support some of the most successful riders and trainers across the globe.

The Challenge

Their solution had undergone a number of changes as the product offering developed so Plusvital were concerned that they may be paying for services that they were no longer using, as well as potential security risks. Given that the IT team had several ongoing responsibilities, the AWS review was not something they had time to carry out themselves.

The Solution

Devoteam Consulting conducted a Well-Architected framework review, which highlighted improvements that would benefit Plusvital within the six pillars (operational excellence, performance, reliability, security, cost optimisation and sustainability) of the AWS Well-Architected Framework.

The Benefits

Devoteam Consulting implemented several recommendations to improve the security, scalability and performance of Plusvital’s workload, all whilst optimising cost. Utilising centralised shared services and accounts also helped to reduce the management overhead for Plusvital’s technical team.

Plusvital now benefit from having a separate development account that is isolated from their production environment. AWS Account users are now managed centrally for all accounts. Both of these initiatives have increased security and reduced the teams overhead. There is also a forecasted 20% reduction in monthly expenditure by removing un-utilised infrastructure.
